Red ain't my bag. I won a dozen red and white nine patch blocks in a drawing that someone else entered me in several years ago. It was a sweet thought and I set the blocks aside for a few years honestly intending to try my hand at making a red quilt. There was a repelling force field around the ziplock baggie though.
Eventually I just grabbed a red fabric from my stash and made setting squares and triangles and assembled a top. I took one look at the completed top and decided I'd never do anything more with it.
Recently, I dug through my NWFOs (never will finish objects) and saw this perfectly serviceable if quite ugly top. I added a red and white checked border, a white back, and tried my hand at machine quilting redwork.
Yikes.
It's still ugly. But now it can be used. I'll turn the backing around for a self-binding and add it to a picnic basket set up for the next wedding gift I need to prepare.

Red is my favorite color so I think this one is a winner! It will be a lovely picnic blanket.
